06.30 AM – 10.30 AM
National Botanical Garden (Mirpur)
- Target Species: Focus on resident specialist birds like the Asian Pied Starling, Coppersmith Barbet, Lineated Barbet, and various woodpeckers (such as the Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker).
- The Landscape: The early morning light is perfect for capturing reflections on the garden's several lakes. You will explore the Rose Garden and the Lotus Pond area, which are hotspots for smaller passerines and kingfishers.
- Photography Tip: Use the soft morning light near the tall Shorea robusta (Sal) trees where raptors often perch before the sun gets too high.
12.00 PM – 01.30 PM
Refreshments & Transit
- Lunch: A 45-minute stop at a local restaurant. This serves as a great time to review your morning shots and clear memory cards if needed.
- Transit to Savar: We head toward the Jahangirnagar University campus, located about 30km northwest of Dhaka.
02.00 PM – 05.30 PM
Jahangirnagar University (The Bird Heaven)
- Target Species: This is the peak location for Lesser Whistling Ducks, Northern Pintails, and the Bronze-winged Jacana. You will also search for rarer sightings like the Pintail Snipe or the Brown-winged Kingfisher near the quieter marshy edges.
- Key Spots: We will focus on the Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) lake and the transport office lake, where migratory birds are most concentrated.
- Golden Hour Photography: As the sun begins to set (around 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM), the light hitting the water lilies provides a stunning backdrop for "flight shots" as the birds become more active before dusk.
